Gallery: Inhotim Art Park Blossoms Inside a Brazilian Botanical Garden

Another artistic beacon in Latin America, Inhotim is home to more than twenty art pavilions amidst a beautiful landscape, and reports to be opening another one this year with work from Anish Kapoor.

A breathtaking art park is emerging in Brazil, as a brilliant addition to the country’s already blooming contemporary arts scene. Bernardo Paz, an entrepreneur from the mining industry, has put his dream into action, constructing an art lovers’ Disneyland around the Inhotim Cultural Institute in Brazil’s countryside. Covering the hills of a rural estate in the state of Minas Gerais, the art park began its life as a 3,000 acre ranch 20 years ago, with Paz then developing it into a botanical garden with landscape architect, Roberto Burle Marx.

Paz started developing his art collection in the ’90s by building galleries around the estate. He then opened it up to public in 2006 and it has since grown more and more popular, attracting 300,000 visitors per year.

Now Paz has unveiled plans to expand this vision of a creative paradise even further, detailing the construction in blueprints of 10 luxury hotels and a restaurant, as well as a conference center and a theatre.

Inhotim is already home to more than twenty art pavilions, and reports to be opening another one this year that will feature works from Anish Kapoor.
