Gallery: Inkling: A Pen That Instantly Creates Digital Files from Paper...

Artists and designers rejoice – the Inkling pen is a high-tech writing utensil that instantly digitizes anything you can draw. Rather than tediously scanning paper pages to check for correct orientation, alignment and a squeaky clean shot, the Inkling lets you ‘draw’ digital files as you dream them up. Created by Wacom, this digital sketch pen captures both an inked and a digital version instantaneously.

The Inkling works just like a standard pen – you sketch with its ballpoint tip on any sketchbook or standard piece of paper, but a digital version is also created. This allows for rough concepting and creative brainstorming to be automatically saved and not accidently thrown in the bin.

Once a design is finished, you can transfer the digital files to your computer using the Inkling Sketch Manager software. It can then be exported and edited in applications such as Photoshop.

Cool huh? To quote Wacom, the Inkling “bridges the gap between traditional, freehand sketching and digital development.” It also just saves loads of time if you are in digital design.

The Wacom Inkling comes with a pen, receiver, rechargeable batteries, four spare pen ink cartridges, charging case and the Inkling Sketch Manager Application. It will be released in the latter half of September and will cost $200.
