Gallery: Jamie Wolfond’s Recycled Plastic Frumpy Chair Takes on a Famil...

Jamie Wolfond‘s Frumpy Chairs are one-of-a-kind seats molded using recycled plastic waste. To make each chair, Jamie pours plastic regrind (ground up rejects of failed injection-molded parts) into a fire-proof silicone pattern and heats the regrind in a pizza oven. A single piece is formed and is then slumped over a crude chair shape to cool and create the final product. Each Frumpy Chair is unique and varies upon how the plastic regrind disperses itself in the mold, how it melts, how it slumps and how it eventually cools.
