Gallery: Japanese Artist Creates Tasty Vegetable Weapons to Show the St...

Make food not war!

Since 2001 Tokyoite Tsuyoshi Ozawa has taken portraits of women holding vegetable weapons in countries around the world – including Iceland, Uganda, China and of course Japan. He first finds a local model and asks her to gather vegetables and other ingredients needed to create typical local recipes. After the food is creatively arranged in the shape of a weapon, he starts shooting the absurd war-like portraits.

After the photos are ready, everybody cooks and eats the fake weapons together, sharing a local multicolored delicacy. Vegetable Weapons shows how humor and art enable us to talk about delicate subjects like war, power and violence. Make food not war!
