The tiny "apartments" are stacked on top of each other, and from the outside, look like little more than gym lockers. Open the tiny cabinet door, and you'll see that the 'geki-sema' house contains barely enough room for an adult to lie down completely flat. Add a shelf, perhaps a tiny television, and some poor lighting, and that's your home-sweet home.

    It’s not like Yao Ming is Asian or anything like that. It’s lazy writing to refer to racially prejudiced perspectives when all that really need to be said is that people over 6 feet tall would not be able to fit.

    This article was very interesting…especially the super racist remark about how these apartments could only exist in Asia since a person who is 6′ tall couldn’t fit. Wow. I happen to be quite short for my race, I guess. I’ve often been amongst Asians who are taller than me and I’ve lived with Asian men well over 6 ft. I can’t believe no one editing this post caught that or didn’t think better to remove it!
