Gallery: Jeremy Laffon Creates Miniature Buildings from Thousands of St...

Some installations are composed as sturdy helical towers.

Hollywoodoscopies comprise several elaborate structures that use sticks of chewing gum in completely different ways. While some are composed as sturdy helical towers, others take shape of complex lattice structures that have sloping and tilted sides. Parts of structures look like they’re about to topple over and fall down. By deliberately undermining the structural integrity of the pieces using a heat source at certain points Laffon creates transforming cityscapes that slowly go through a process of destruction. Thanks to the flexibility of the material, the sculptures can be observed as landscapes captured in the process of perpetual change.

Laffon will be showcasing at Association Limousin Art Contemporain & Sculptures in Limoges, France, through March 23rd, 2013.
