Gallery: Jorge Diego Etienne’s Modern Mesh ‘First Object’ Planters are ...

This cool set of planters are a practical and simple way of bringing nature into the home in the summer months. Designed by our very own former Inhabitat writer Jorge Diego Etienne, the First Object designs were made in collaboration with Savvy Studio as part of their Casa Bosques initiative.

Industrial designer (and occasional Inhabitat contributor) Jorge Diego Etienne recently teamed up with Savvy Studio to launch a beautiful set of planters that offer a practical and simple way to bring nature into your home during the summer months. Jorge’s First Object planters mix tradition with modernism by combining a handcrafted clay pot produced in Oaxaca, Mexico with a functional metal stand produced in local industrial workshops in Monterrey.

Jorge’s First Object planters were made in collaboration with Savvy Studio as part of their Casa Bosques initiative. The team worked with local artisans through the Mexican non-profit Innovando la Tradición, which helps support traditional clay pottery. Take a look at this beautiful video they made about the process. This is just the first in a series of collaborations between the designers – stay tuned for more!
