Jurgen Bey's Fallen Tree Trunk Bench for Droog

by , 12/23/10

jurgen bey, droog, tree trunk bench, fallen tree trunk bench, reclaimed materials, tree trunk furniture

Seasonal winds and unexpected storms give way to thousands of fallen trees across the country each year. So rather than sending those trunks down the wood chipper, designer Jurgen Bey has reclaimed these beauties and found a simple way to transform them into fabulous seating. In this classic Droog design, the designer simply fixed classically formed bronze chair backs into the trunk to create a proper piece of furniture. But don’t think that Droog is looking to ship these 300+ pound masses to your living room. While you can purchase the chair backs in their store, Bey makes it clear that it’s ridiculous to transport fallen trees – especially when they’re locally available.
