Kentucky Man Builds Bourbon-Powered Car

Bourbon car, Nillson car, alternative transportation

Gas prices driving you to drink? Put down that whiskey bottle because Mickey Nillson of Bardstown, Kentucky, has a better use for it. His bourbon-powered junk car was inspired by Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the flying car assembled from junk by Dick van Dyke’s character Caractacus Potts in the movie of the same name. “The car will run on almost any bourbon, but she really purrs on Maker’s Mark,” said Nilsson.

Want more info? The details are sketchy, and increasingly apocryphal as the story grows from its origins on The Daily Load. Did American Pickers stars Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz attempt to steal a moonshine still from Nillson, inspiring him to watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang for junk-powered car ideas? We’ll let you be the judge, but it sounds like more than Mr. Nillson’s car is powered by bourbon.

I would *hic-cup* like to dedicate this car *hic-cup* to the proud bourbon makers of Ken*hic-cup*tuckey.

I have some friends that would cry at the thought of Makers Mark being used to power a car, instead of their gullet.
