Talk about the bold look of Kohler! Living up to their well-known slogan, the kitchen and bath fixture company made a splash at this year's ICFF, showing up in a 30-ft long, recycled chartreuse shipping container. The retrofitted container was decked out with a flip-up facade, plenty of space to showcase Kohler's latest color-heavy collaboration with Jonathan Adler and comfy couches made from their own bathtubs. We couldn't resist taking a peek - step into our slideshow for our photos of their statement-making booth.
When we first came across Kohler‘s massive shipping container booth, we were skeptical as to whether it was even green at all (besides the color, that is). Some companies choose to have these containers built for them brand new instead of recycling old ones. However, a friendly chat with one of the reps revealed that the container used for this application was indeed a reclaimed one – she showed us the dents that had been painted over – and we even learned that since most containers are 20 ft. long or 40 ft. long, this one had to be custom-fitted to its now just-right size of 30 ft.
Those that stopped by the vibrant booth were also treated to some R&R on couches made from Kohler bathtubs (unfortunately the tubs used were new) and the chance to juice up their gadgets at charging stations. After ICFF closes up shop, the shipping container booth will be headed to Dwell on Design, so if you didn’t get a chance to see it in NY, check it out in LA!
