The simple technique of folding paper can have surprisingly complex and mesmerizing results - especially when combined with light. These beautiful hand-made origami lighting fixtures designed by multi-disciplinary design studio Foldability range from relatively simple lamps to larger, intricately patterned pendant lights. The team is showcasing their awesome work at Designjunction during this year's London Design Festival.
The designer, Kyla McCallum, who runs the studio, works with origami to make products, packaging, graphics, and lighting fixtures. All of her lamps from Sonobe and Foldability Collections were made out of modular segments and hand-folded using a traditional folding technique. The shades, which can be made in various sizes and shapes, are fabricated in either East London or Glasgow, where she graduated from the Glasgow School of Art.
