Los Angeles is taking a progressive look at public transportation and railLA is leading the way, bringing together the forces of the Los Angeles Chapters of the American Institute of Architects and the American Planning Association (APA). Today marks the launch of the railLA exhibition, LA Beyond Cars: A Global Perspective on Rail and Public Space. Locals and visitors alike are invited to view new ideas for establishing sustainable public transportation in a city laden with cars.
The multimedia experience takes a look at numerous ideas from around the world that consider a future beyond automobiles for the car-centric city of Los Angeles. The exhibit will run the entire month of August for any who happen to be in the City of Angels this summer. Those who are not fortunate enough to view the experience in three dimensions can see some of the transformational ideas online at railLA’s Vision Blog.
railLA is growing as a coalition of experienced professionals, passionate citizens, and business leaders working together to ensure Californians benefit from the nation’s first viable high-speed train network. Following the opening of the exhibition, there’s a panel discussion looking at Transformational Transportation on Friday July 30th.
