Traffic is supposed to be at a standstill today in LA due to the inevitable Carmegedon, so we only thought it appropriate to take into consideration Ross Ching [1]’s video, Running on Empty [1]. The video answers the question, “What if, tomorrow, (in the city of Los Angeles) everyone’s car disappeared?” by visually depicting some of the city’s incredibly busy byways completely extinct of any automobiles. The video is visually breathtaking and makes the viewer think about a less car-centric city of angels, creating more questions than answers. How would people react? How quickly would the regional environment recover from centuries of fossil fuel emissions? What could the city do, reclaiming all that free space? Video available after the jump.
