Despite all the buzz about standing desks, there are still times when you want to sit down somewhere comfortable, like in bed or on the couch, and work on your laptop. Of course, laptop desks have been around a long time, but they’re usually bulky and expensive. Now that laptops are lighter than ever — enter the Lapdeck: a laptop desk made of recycled corrugated cardboard, so it’s recyclable, lightweight and portable. Its creator says the Lapdeck’s cantilevered design makes it plenty sturdy for supporting your laptop (or even a 25-pound laser printer) as long as it’s on a soft surface. Factor in the Lapdeck’s low price and compact design and it’s easy to keep one handy when a typical laptop desk just wouldn’t work, such as while traveling. Lapdeck is on Kickstarter right now, and is only $10 including shipping, or $25 for three. They’ll ship in time for the holidays too. Lapdeck is just a few thousand dollars short of its fundraising target, with until Tuesday 25 November to go, so check it out if you like comfortable emailing and Hulu-ing.
