One of the hardest things about saving energy is disciplining ourselves to turn off our lights and appliances when they aren’t in use. Well designers Jia Wen Chen & Wei-Ting Chen came up with a solution to that problem – a light that turns itself off for you. Called Flat Light, this LED hourglass timer was conceived especially for dark hallways and staircases. All you have to do is turn the knob and the lights will go on for an allotted amount of time – let’s say 30 seconds – allowing you to safely reach the end of the hallway or the top of the stairs. Then, it simply turns the light off. The Flat Light could definitely be used in other rooms too, with longer or shorter time limits.
