Lexus just unveiled the first images of its LF-CC Hybrid Coupe Concept, which will debut with the automaker’s next-generation hybrid powertrain at the 2012 Paris Motor Show this month. Lexus’ newest concept car continues the design theme of the LF-LC hybrid sports coupe that was unveiled earlier this year, but with more compact dimensions. According to Lexus, the LF-CC Hybrid Coupe Concept reinforces Lexus’ commitment to creating high-performance vehicles with attractive design, a superior driving experience, and advanced technologies.
On the outside, the compact, rear-wheel-drive LF-CC showcases the latest evolution of the Lexus L-finesse design language, with perhaps the boldest interpretation of the signature Lexus “spindle” grille to date. It’s not yet known how much of the concept’s styling will make it into production, like the unique, 3 LED-projector headlamps and three-dimensional taillamps.
Lexus continues to offer a hybrid powertrain on most of its models and it looks like the next-generation IS will get one as well. The LF-CC is powered by a new Lexus 2.5-liter full hybrid powertrain that features an all-new 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine matched with a compact water-cooled electric motor. Adapted specifically for the hybrid powertrain, the engine benefits from several technical improvements. It adopts the Atkinson cycle and D-4S direct injection technology to optimize both the power and fuel-efficiency benefits of Lexus Hybrid Drive. Lexus will introduce this new hybrid powertrain into its model range in the near future.
Lexus will officially unveil the LF-CC Hybrid Coupe Concept at the Paris Motor Show on September 27.
