Remember when your parents scolded you for scribbling on the furniture? You won’t have that problem with Lin Yu-Nung‘s playful ‘Inside Out Lamp’, which actually encourages kids (and adults) to draw all over it. On display at this year’s Milan Furniture Fair, the lamp is wrapped in a polycarbonate sheet that can be covered with artwork and then erased to start anew!

The Inside Out Lamp is an innovative approach to incorporating play while keeping the aesthetic qualities of both adult and kids’ furniture. A polycarbonate sheet creates the lamp shade where you can draw on both the inside and outside surfaces. Whenever you feel the next burst of playful creativity just wipe it clean and start over again. Tilting the lamp foot allows for interaction and play while sitting on the floor. The soft forms of the lamp foot are made out of birch wood.

The lamp is Lin Yu-Nung’s contribution to the explorative project ‘Play in Progress’ where ageless play is examined. The exhibition was presented for the first time at Ventura Lambrate during the Milan Design Week this year. “Play in Progress” will continue touring Sweden starting off at the Röhsska museum in Sweden on May 5th.
