Earlier this year Bridgman showed us to build a recycled shipping pallet chair, and now the company is back at it again with this upcycled garden chair. When delivering new furniture, the company is often asked to haul away their customer’s old furniture. In an effort to give some of the old furniture new life, they dismantled a 10-year-old rattan chair and created a new living one. All of the materials from the old chair were upcycled into this new one.

Bridgman also took this as a chance to explore new gardening trends, which they promptly incorporated into the chair. The two sides feature vertical gardens planted with flowers and kokedama string gardens hanging from the arm rests. Old Wellington boots are positioned at the front, where they serve as new planters, while a gutter garden hangs from the seat. Bamboo slats form the backrest, and a mason jar planter hangs from the back. The best part though is the sod seat, which gives you a cushy place to rest your bum – but be careful when you water it so you don’t get all wet when you sit down.

The Garden Chair will be auctioned off by Bridgman with proceeds donated to the Greenfingers charity, which is dedicated to creating special gardens for children’s hospices around the UK.
