In 2005, a giant mountain of abandoned fridges was cleared away from a lot in East London to make way for Zaha Hadid's Olympic Aquatic Centre. As a way to celebrate the area's industrial past before the glory of the Olympics, Lindsey Scannapieco decided to resurrect the "Fridge Mountain" by starting a pop up cinema made of old fridges and upcycled materials. Called Films On Fridges, the playful and interactive outdoor theatre will be open from July 27th through August 13th and is showing 12 screenings of classic sports films as a tribute the upcoming games.
