As the kick off to a sizzling summer of 2009, we are thrilled to report that the June issue of Vogue [2] is highlighting some gorgeously green designs and super fresh eco fashion picks. Loyale [3]’s Jenny Hwa has her super-hot Barstow bikini [4] featured on the chiseled bod of Gisele Bundchen [5] on Vogue’s page 68, a sign perhaps that even Anna Wintour [6] has acknowledged that green fashion has real resonance with fashion-forward readers. Summer style really does not get any hotter than this, and honestly folks, who would have guessed that sustainable style [7] would be heating up a fashion glossy’s pages on the curves of a Brazilian supermodel?

Loyale [3]’s commitment to using 100% organic cotton and low-impact dyes is truly revolutionizing the way that we think about swimwear, and now that this mission has been paired with editorial coverage that puts eco fashion front and center on the trend map, the message seems even stronger: Green fashion is no longer a quiet bystander.

Jenny Hwa [8] commented in June Vogue [2]’s Style Ethics’ write-up that organic cotton absorbs low-impact dyes more safely and efficiently resulting in less toxic waste-water and a healthier environment overall. The teal-hued Barstow bikini is crafted in New York City by workers who are also paid fair wages, something that Hwa takes very seriously as a leader in the design community and a local advocate for sustainability. (Earlier this year [9], you might recall that Hwa won the Eileen Fisher Business Grant for Women Entrepreneurs [10].)

The Barstow bikini [4]’s detailed construction consists of knit pointelle and a jersey lining. The top and bottom are fully lined, the former comes with adjustable straps. Loyale’s swimwear is hand washable or machine wash ‘gentle’ in a lingerie bag.

Congratulations to Jenny and her team at Loyale for turning heads with this hot news story and well-deserved write-up in Vogue.
