The architects envisioned the building to stand out from its urban environment, creating a "visual dialogue" between its contemporary exhibitions and the neighborhood around it.

LED lights are integrated into the exterior of the art house — a modern addition to the historic structure that brings the building into visibility at night. Many of the original features have been maintained, such as the Queen Theater’s murals and exposed wooden ceilings. A roof deck provides a great space to look down onto the city below and is lit up by light boxes during outdoor movie screenings. With a grand suspended staircase constructed to hang 35 feet from the ceiling, the space has been carefully created so that its modern features complement the original design.
