We love artists with a can-do attitude, and Japanese sculptor Macaon has brought that outlook to a whole new level. Macaon is taking old aluminum beer and soda cans, and transforming them into the icons of comic books and video games. Extremely detailed, each can is selected for color, and painstakingly bent into position with the skill of an origami master. Yet we wonder, how did the artist go through so many beer cans and still have such a steady hand?
When knocking back a cold beer, you hardly ever pay attention to the can. Yet, Japanese artist Macaon notices every picture, letter, and label printed on its surface. Using both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage containers, the artist carefully crafts superstars of the anime, comic, and video game world. Macaon brings together some of the best things in life; beer, sugary drinks, and beloved characters from childhood movies and cartoons. Check out the artist’s website or craft blog for more examples of incredible animals, dragons, and insects.
