Here at Inhabitat, we love eco-friendly wood furniture of all shapes and sizes, but throw in some nature-inspired handcrafted curves and consider us hooked! MacMaster Design, a contemporary lighting and furniture design studio based in Great Britain, captures this combination of FSC-certified wood and sensual design. Committed to the principle of "minimal waste for maximum output," this award-winning firm creates beautiful floral-inspired artwork with strong ecological values.
Launched by Alex MacMaster in 2009, the MacMaster Design studio designs and handcrafts their eco-friendly wares in-house using woodworking techniques learned from the world’s foremost traditional craftsmen. Despite the high-end design, these made-to-order pieces easily blend into a variety of environments, including the ICFF 2014 showroom where Inhabitat first spotted MacMaster’s pendant lamps. The lamps and furniture are crafted from hand picked FSC certified timbers.
The lightweight, floral-inspired lamps all feature elegant wooden leaf-like curves through which a warm ambient light radiates. From the lotus pendant light to the tulip floor light, every organically shaped design suggests dynamic movement. The minimalist styles highlight the expert craftsmanship of the hand carved curves.
