Compost and lighting don’t usually go together, but innovative design studio Ett La Benn decided the two seemingly separate things would mesh perfectly together in their new Malva lamp. Unveiled at Milan Design Week, this minimalist, contemporary fixture was inspired by the natural material properties of cellulose and viscose. Each lampshade is made out of sponges that are moistened and left to dry out on a mold. This simple process requires no excessive energy and fulfills all the criteria for truly eco friendly design.
