Martin Davis’ Beautiful ‘Grandpa’s Desk’ Reclaims Wood from Old Wardrobes No Longer in Use

Designer Martin Davis created Grandpa’s Desk after he was commissioned by a client to turn two wardrobes, built decades ago by her grandfather, into a new piece of furniture. Asked to design an office desk, Davis pulled apart the old wardrobes and used the timber to create a modern and unique construction steeped in the spirit of the original works. Here, even old screws, nails and fittings were reclaimed and cast into resin handles to act as both a reminder of the original wardrobes, and as a source of memories every time the client opens a drawer.
