All hail the Coca-Cola man of Johannesburg. This giant “Cratefan”, located at the fan park in Newtown, is built out of 2,500 Coke bottle crates. Cratefan weighs a whopping 25 tons and measures 54 feet tall. Designed for Coca-Cola by Animal Farm, the project was constructed using a skeleton of scaffolding. Coca-Cola says that Cratefan’s crates will be recycled at the end of his life, but we have to wonder: did Coke use all new crates to build this thing? We hope that’s not the case.
