At age 18, most American kids are looking forward to college or scouting out summer job opportunities. Few have seen the human rights violations and traumatic loss of life that haunt Reba Sikder on a daily basis. You see, the teen was one of hundreds caught in the horrific Rana Plaza collapse in Bangladesh. She has recurring nightmares and clear signs of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder from the two days and two nights she spent trapped in the rubble of Rana Plaza. Despite all of these tragedies, Sikder has refused to remain silent or feel sorry for herself. Instead, she’s speaking out about workers’ rights, and fighting to ensure a safer future for young Bangladeshis.
