Mexico’s Le Porc-Shop Turns Drab Recycled Materials into Dynamic Furniture
Through their Unknown Folk Object (UFO) workshops, Le Porc-Shop aims to produce small pieces using waste materials from their workshops. In a very intuitive and empowering manner, participants work for one day at the factory to produce objects with their own hands, using only simple processes and their imagination to create functional objects. The UFO workshop has occurred twice, with participants ranging from various backgrounds and nationalities, all working on an open brief to create their own everyday objects.
To celebrate its 20th anniversary, the Galería Mexicana de Diseño launch the 20/20 collection, for which Le Porc-Shop designed Bancarrota; a clever multipurpose DIY object. Bancarrota is a stool, a paper bin, or a side table, made from scrap lumbers and plywood assembled with colorful plastic fasteners.
Every single piece of Le Porc-Shop proposes a twist of what furniture is or is conceived like, and each is carefully hand crafted green design with a new Mexican identity.
