Gallery: MILAN 2008: Designersblock Show

Starting last week on April 16th, Milan Design Week, the world’s biggest contemporary furniture event, has drawn to a close, but we still have lots of pics and coverage yet to come! The memories of brilliant Milanese sunshine seem so distant now, with steady rain all day festival goers are starting to wear down after a few too many parties! Nevertheless, your Inhabitants are stopping off for extra espressos every day, to ensure that you get your daily design fix! We attended Designersblock over the weekend, and here were some of our favorite designs.

First up at Designersblock, designer Mattia Frongia presents his Handl-EGGS with care lamp. Handmade from the original packaging of eggs, Frongia has used real eggs as the light bulbs.

From the designer who brought us the Electrici-tree last year, Vahakn Matossian gave Inhabitat a sneak preview of his new product still in it’s test stage – a belt made from rubber tubing and discarded snowboard bindings. Vahakn is already getting a lot of interest from friends into extreme sporting due to the belt’s unique flexible features.

FSC Certified company Woodloops have launched their cube, bloxx, jones and brancusi products at Designersblock this year. Image of clothespeg USB stick.

Private Circle’s Clothes Lamps – made from reappropriated old undergarments – were launched last year at Milan, but we couldn’t resist posting an image of the product in situ, making an appearance again this year.

Berlin designer, Matthias Froböse’s porcelain lights.

Thomas Antonetti’s Replica light only takes eco light bulbs.
