From April 18 to 23, Milan IS the Salone Internazionale del Mobile as designers, tourists, and journalists flock to the trade fair for the most anticipated design event of the year. On Day One, Inhabitat made its way to the Rho-Fiera fairgrounds on the outskirts of the bustling Italian city where the latest international designs were being unveiled before a crazed, but decidedly stylish, public. We’ve seen some great stuff and have tons to report- read on for some highlights!
It was definitely a challenge to weave through the excessive number of booths on display throughout the Salone but here are some personal favorites from the event:
Sibling designers Fernando and Humberto Campana’s Favela Chairs are tediously pieced together from leftover wood chips. They currently design for Italian-based furniture company Edra.
Ingo Maurer’s reflective TU-BES Lights made out of toothpaste tubes… more to follow later this morning about this one!
Patricia Urquiola’s petal-patterned felt chaise and chair for Moroso.
Anything from Swedish-based design studio Swedese is pretty amazing, but I’m especially loving this log-inspired number designed by Naoto Fukasawa. More from Swedese later today.
Lampshades crafted from mulberry pulp by Innermost were also a sight for sore eyes.

hi, i visit a fair there i saw imazing furniture style. All stalls are very nice and they have good collection of
modern & contemporary furniture style. I have not seen much becuse i have to take flight back to india.
