A group of Kansas City teens have transformed a 1967 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia into the world’s first social-media fueled vehicle! With the help of non-profit MindDrive, the teens converted the vintage car into an electric vehicle that gets jolt of power for every tweet, like and social media share. MindDrive created the social-media powered car to engage at-risk youth by giving them the skills to build an electric vehicle.

    Social media is an extremely powerful source of energy. The kinetic energy from texting fingers, keyboard taps are all captured and transmitted through the internet. I’m glad that we can finally put all of that energy to good use.

    Seriously though, where is the actually electricity coming from? I’m assuming it runs off a battery like any other electric vehicle and that Social Buzz unlocks the power to the vehicle?
    I:E cute, but unnecessary restrictions were placed on the electricity coming from the battery?

    How does social media create electricity? It sounds like it could be very dangerous if you’re driving and suddenly stop.
