Easter eggs these days come in all shapes and sizes, but none are more unusual or awesome than this grass-covered garden egg, which is bursting with sustainable sky-scrapers and vertical farms! Designed by architect Matteo Cainer [4] for the annual ‘Art in the Easter Egg’ [5] event in Rome, this extraordinary egg features a grassy terrain sprouting with urban farms and environmentally friendly towers. Through the design, Cainer re-imagines the urban landscape and explores the relationship that architecture has with nature.

Embracing environmental and social responsibility in his brilliant egg design, Cainer creates an amazing idea of eco-proportions, far from the traditional chocolate egg many of us will be enjoying these holidays!
Celebrating its 10th year, the annual event showcases uniquely crafted eggs donated by 40 artists, architects and designers, and all the proceeds from the event go to the National Association Act against AIDS.
