Gallery: Modern Charred Timber Rooftecture HH Home in Japan Boasts Abun...

Interior cutouts create a sense of play throughout the interior

Rooftecture HH was designed to do ensure that the inhabitants would still feel an intense connection to the natural environment, including the site’s light and wind. With views of the nearby mountains and materials that reinforce a sense of organic shelter, this beautiful 126 square meter home provides just that. And more.

The charred timber cladding is reinforced with glass sliding doors while square cutouts throughout the interior create a sense of playfulness. Circulation zones make navigating the separate functions a breeze and there is even a piano room that makes room for culture. The translucent roof and dark timber contrast in such a way that the home makes a bold statement amid a rather dreary urban environment.
