This airy unit underneath a grove of trees is on the outskirts of Ahmedabad, India and was constructed as a corporate and production area for a herbal skin care product company. Designed by Modo Designs, the modestly scaled ground floor structure is made of steel and stone and successfully connects human work areas with natural surroundings. The materials used can be reused and recycled, and the dry construction applied reduced the proportion of wet construction, saving water. There is ample natural light and cross ventilation to cut electricity consumption during the day and the interior spaces have energy efficient tube lights reducing overall energy consumption. Last but not least, the roof is also clad in reflective glazed white tiles that minimize heat gain into the spaces.
