In an effort to rescue furniture from an untimely fate, UK based Modoo Home is transforming forgotten armchairs from many of Europe’s soon-to-be demolished buildings into stylish works of art for every taste. The team consist of Moni Juhasz, an interior designer and furniture designer, and Dora Botta, a marketing and customer service professional. According to Dora, “Nothing need to be thrown out if it just needs a lick of paint or a new screw.” Moni believes that “all furniture has a soul.”
The company gives each piece a longer life by reupholstering with fabrics that incorporate Aquaclean technology, a revolutionary fabric treatment, which allows stains to be removed using only water. The team works to preserve as much of the original frames as possible while fashioning new cushions out of recycled foams and mattresses. Modoo Home understands that upcycling is not a new innovation and that people have been doing it for years but they’re hoping to stand out from the crowd by focusing exclusively on armchairs. Keeping a close eye on color trends and styles, their quality pieces are a pleasant blend of old and new, classic and modern, and fashionable and eco-friendly. Creative customers are invited to design their own pieces.
