The park hosts 28 kilometers of walking trails around the 50-meter (164-foot) deep gorge, as well as the longest suspension footbridge in the world. After dark, visitors to Foresta Lumina can explore an enchanted trail that winds through the woods for two kilometers. As they walk through the ancient forest, they are introduced to seven characters inspired by the area’s myths and legends, including fairies, living trees, the spirit of the forest and the fearsome, ice-hearted Creature.
The all ages presentation utilizes lighting, projections, video mapping and an original soundtrack to guide visitors through the immersive experience. Moment Factory Environment Director Gabriel Pontbriand noted that this project was unique for the studio, which normally works in urban environments. Multimedia Director Marie Belzil added, “We wanted to adapt to the forest in the most organic way possible. I don’t think this experience could exist anywhere else.”
The path takes about 40 minutes to two hours to navigate, depending upon walking pace. Until 9 August, 2014, Foresta Lumina runs daily from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. From 15 August to 11 October, 2014, it will be presented on Friday and Saturday nights only, also from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m.
