Spotted at Dezeen, Cube 6 is an innovative piece of space-saving furniture that transforms from a cube-shaped stool into 6 distinct benches or tables. Designer Naho Matsuno used a system of rails to allow the legs of each small stool to slide into another, while the top of each of the small stool forms the 6 surfaces of a cube.
Made from birch plywood and maple, these stools form a 350 square mm cube when slotted together. Cube 6 is also available in a three-piece format wherein each stool has two surfaces. These tiny stools can be used for a variety of purposes.
As cities become more populous and apartments get smaller, transforming furniture offers one way to solve problems of space. We could also see Cube 6 being of great use in primary schools, where it could provide benches for children that can be packed away and pulled out as needed.
