At last year's Detroit Auto Show, we brought you exclusive photos of Acura's new NSX sports car, a legendary mid-engined rear-wheel-drive performance coupe the automaker was finally bringing back as a hybrid. We're still excited about this car, which enthusiasts have been asking parent company Honda to bring back since it faded from the scene in 2005, and we were psyched to see it back again at this year's show. The NSX features sleek good looks with LED headlamps, a low grille with the Acura trademark shape, plus a more smoothed-over look that is closer to Nissan's production sports cars, and it is now front-wheel drive. And that is the purpose of this new concept: to show where Acura is really headed with the design of the NSX.
The NSX Concept packs a new direct-injected 3.5-liter V-6 engine and 40-horsepower motor, plus two more 27-horsepower motors at the front wheels for extra push. Honda is still saying that their seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and “Super Handling All-Wheel Drive” system will complete the package. We love the fresh look of the NSX and can’t wait for it to come to market. Check out all the green and sporty details in our gallery.
