Concerned about the safety of fracking operations in your area? An interactive map created by the environmental group Earthjustice using Google Maps will show you exactly how many fracking accidents have happened in your state — and depending on where you live, the visual is alarming.

The map includes the obvious incidents like exploding wells and industrial accidents, but also spills of toxic chemicals into the soil and water, residents near fracking sites who’ve experienced mysterious health problems, and even the deaths of pets and livestock.

The information used in the map comes from the U.S. Energy Information Administration and includes incidents through 2011. The map can even be broken down by state, including local stats on the number of oil and gas wells, information on local fracking laws, and even the number of earthquakes caused by fracking in the region. Hopefully the easy-to-read format will help educate even more people about the dangers of fracking and empower them to fight back against the damage oil and gas companies are doing in their communities.
