Drayson Racing and Lola Unveil 850 HP Electric Racecar That Goes From 0 to 60 in 3 Seconds Flat

Drayson Racing [5] and Lola [6] just unveiled their brand new electric racecar [7] at the 6th MIA International Low Carbon Racing Conference. The Lola-Drayson B12/69EV was created through a collaboration between the two companies and packs 850-horsepower (640 kW) from an electric charge. The mean machine can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph [8] in a phenomenal 3 seconds, from 0 to 100 in 5.1 seconds, and can boost past 200 mph as its top speed.

The new racer [10] is the first in a series that Drayson Racing will bring to the 2013 FIA Formula E series- a world championship for electric racing cars. Four YASA-750 axial flux motors power the EV’s 700 volt system [11], complete with a composite three part 60 kWh battery. The B12/69EV charges with the new state-of-the-art inductive Qualcomm Halo system.
The resulting racer shows the world that a fast and exciting race car [12]can be run entirely on clean energy, while still keeping up with impressive engineering. The low carbon prototype made its debut last week, with planned testing to be released to the public soon. With its impending success, Drayson hopes to inspire and invigorate the low carbon racing industry.
