New York Auto Show: Porsche’s 911 GTR 3 “Facebook” Hybrid Gets a Lot of Likes

Porsche [5] has created a special edition of its 911 GTR 3 hybrid [6] to commemorate passing the 1 million Facebook fan mark. The hybrid race car is plastered with 27,000 signatures of Porsche fans and will be kept in Porsche’s Stuttgart museum [7] after its debut this week in New York [8]. The 911 GT3 R hybrid draws a hefty 480 horsepower from an engine and 80 horsepower each from two motors that turn on to kick up the acceleration for short bursts. No word on fuel mileage, as this particular hybrid [9] is more about boosting power than efficiency, but Porsche recently tested the car on the Nurburgring test track in Germany and believes that this car signifies the future of motorsports.
