Despite his opposition to similar measures in the past, Governor Andrew Cuomo is expected to take action towards legalizing the use of medical marijuana in New York this week. Before cannabis fans get too excited though, the new program will limit the use of the drug to patients suffering from serious illnesses at 20 select hospitals in the state. The new legislation will make New York the 21st state in the U.S. to legalize the use of marijuana for medical purposes.
