New Zealand Train Station Transformed Into Green Meadow

Often times standing around in even the most modern and sleek subway stations can be an utter drag. But imagine the surprise if your local platform suddenly sprouted a vast green meadow! Not too long ago Auckland New Zealand’s Britomart Station received a grassy green makeover that transformed 1,250 square meters of its cold hard concrete into a plush green field.

The transformation was actually completed for the production of a new commercial for Meadow Fresh, one of New Zealand’s famed dairy companies. But even as filming went on, the station remained partially operational and throughout the day bemused travelers were met by the unconventional field.

Unfortunately, once filming drew to a close, the field was dismantled. Nevertheless, the idea of a green meadow in a station certainly makes you think about the existing accommodations in most train and subway terminals. Already outfitted with an excess number of McDonald’s and Starbucks, there’s really no reason why outlets for public transportation shouldn’t act as comfortable, relaxing and natural public spaces!
