Nissan had big news for Pathfinder fans at the 2013 New York Auto Show today with the unveil of their first ever Pathfinder Hybrid. Rumors about a hybrid Pathfinder had been circulating for a while now, and it looks like Nissan finally decided to translate the success it's seen with its most iconic SUV into a more eco-friendly model. Aesthetically, the new 2014 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid looks pretty much just like a regular Pathfinder, but drivers will see a difference when they go to pay at the pump.

The real draw of the new 2014 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid is that it will offer SUV-lovers the chance to get in on the company’s cleaner PUREDRIVE® Hybrid technology for just about $3,000 more than a standard V6 Pathfinder. The 7-passenger vehicle will still have 3 rows and lots of cargo space. Under the hood, the car will boast 250 horsepower supplied by a supercharged 2.5-liter gasoline engine and 15-kilowatt electric motor paired with a compact lithium-ion battery.

The new Pathfinder Hybrid will also feature a next-generation Xtronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) and fuel economy will be an estimated at 26 mpg combined, which is an increase of 24 percent over the standard Pathfinder model. The Pathfinder HEV will have an estimated driving range of about 526 miles.

According to Nissan‘s presentation today, the 2014 Pathfinder Hybrid will be available in late Summer 2013.
