TRAINS ARE RUNNING BUT TRY TO GO HOME EARLY
While the MTA is up and running (see the latest updates on that here), “forecasts for accumulating snow may…require NYC Transit to shift the storage locations to subway cars indoors along underground express tracks. That means some express service will operate on the local tracks, while some lines will end earlier than normal this evening. Bus service is currently operating on a regular weekday schedule. As the storm progresses, service will be monitored on a route by route basis, and may be curtailed as conditions warrant.” So if you can, try to see if your boss will let you out of work a bit early or possibly even work from home today.
Update as of 11:40AM 2/8/2013: Amtrak will be suspending northbound service out of Penn Station starting at 12:30PM. For times and lines impacted, visit http://bit.ly/YfmLfc

BEETS ON THE STREETS?
On a lighter note, there is a possibility that you could see some magenta on the roads today if NY decides to implement the beet juice de-icing they’ve been testing out. We contacted the DOT this morning to see if any beets will be on the streets today and will keep you updated when we hear back.
