I think the biggest problem with "micro" apartments is finding affordable furniture and appliances that have that design paradigm in mind. Eventually these smaller living spaces will be foisted upon the working class as "normal" all the while appliances/furniture geared toward working-class Americans (non-NYC) are larger. So to really have a positive impact, micro-sized furniture, appliances, and fixtures have to have become more affordable and widely available and not exclusively through boutique shops and firms.
