Battery Park has long been a New York City must-see for its stellar waterfront promenade, and word on the street is that it will soon boast a brand new greenery-lined bikeway. The Battery Garden Bikeway will be a beautiful flower-lined path connecting the Hudson River Bikeway and the East River Esplanade, making it even easier for visitors to roll in from all over the city and enjoy!
The new bike path will feature designated lanes for walkers and bikers and expertly manicured perennial gardens by designer Piet Oudolf who has created gardens all over the world and even on the city’s beloved High Line.
In celebration of the Battery’s rich history, 10 NYC monuments will also be rearranged around the perimeter of the park and at new entrances to help signify meeting places. The monuments will also be lit at night, for those wishing for an evening waterfront stroll. There is no word yet on when the project will break ground but we can’t wait to see the “path” it takes.
