There are going to be a lot of awesome designers showcasing their green interiors at the upcoming BKLYN Designs furniture fair, but Brooklyn design collaboration Aellon (we've written about them before here) definitely sets itself apart with their incredible collection of eco-friendly furniture made from shipwrecked Indonesian fishing boats and other reclaimed wood. Serious stewards of the earth who ensure their work has the smallest environmental impact, Aellon has a wide-ranging handcrafted product range that will enliven any home. Another interesting tidbit? Aellon was founded by of one of our favorite furniture-making duos, Uhuru, and entrepreneur Dan Husserl, who also plays leading man to rising cruelty-free fashion designer Leanne Mai-ly Hilgart!

Although Aellon often has to source new wood for their designs, when they do, they commit themselves to purchasing wood that has been grown and harvested responsibly. But their most exciting pieces are those made from reclaimed shipwrecked boats. Pieces in the Grace Line series include the minimalist Leif Stool and gorgeous Duke Oval Coffee Table that is, unfortunately, currently out of stock.

They have several other desks, tables, mirrors and chairs that are equally beautiful, as this Brooklyn-based firm pays careful attention to sourcing only the highest quality materials – new or reclaimed, all of which are specifically designed to “last longer than a lifetime.” Be sure to stop on by and say hello if you’re heading to BKLYN Designs 2013 in May.
