It was no sleep 'til BKLYN for the Inhabitat editors at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair [6] this New York Design week [7]. This year, our favorite Brooklyn-grown design show [8] set up shop at ICFF, and we were on the scene to scope out the fresh crop of locally-made furniture. From luxury chicken coops for the urban hen to beetle-eaten reclaimed tabletops, check out our roundup of the best of BKLYN Designs [9] from the show.

We’re glad we looked up for a change because otherwise we never would have seen this elegant bamboo lamp by Pickett [12] featuring a pentagram shaped base.

Brian Volk-Zimmerman, the designer behind Volk [13] handmade furniture uses reclaimed organ knobs as drawer pulls on his custom made chests and lines them with leftover cloth from his girlfriend’s fashion job.
