Gallery: Bower to Debut Magnetic Polaris Lighting at BKLYN Designs 2013

Bower is new to the Brooklyn design family but they are off to a resplendent start with a series of playful interiors. Founded by Danny Giannella and Tammer Hijazi last year, the studio takes its name and inspiration from the Bower bird that is innately programmed to make its surroundings beautiful, which is exactly what this creative pair strives to do with their own work. Keep a lookout for their Polaris lighting range, which is making its debut at BKLYN Designs at the end of this week.

The Polaris lamp has to be one of the smartest green lamps we’ve seen in a while. Made with solid pieces of scrap wood and embedded with magnets, the lamp adheres to any magnetic surface at any angle. Fun, funky and flexible, it is bound to be a hot talking point at Dumbo and beyond. Other fun designs include a circle square bike holder that uses far fewer materials than similar products.

Are you the kind of person who is always losing your keys? Well check this out: Bower designed a clever wooden target that is magnetized, so take aim and toss your teas in its direction and you won’t have to remember where you left them the following day. There’s more, so be sure to head on down to Dumbo in Brooklyn from May 10-12 to see Bower and other green artisans in action.
